After concluding their LIVE FANTASIA ‘CONTINUUM’ concert in February, VIXX is set to hold their first fan meeting in five years VIXX ST★RLIGHT 6TH FANMEETING [ STARLIGHT BALLROOM ] on May 18 and 19 in Seoul. Since their debut in 2012, VIXX has been dazzling K-pop fans with title songs that cover a wide range of concepts such as vampire, voodoo doll, and cyborg. But let’s not forget that the quartet also owns many B-side tracks that also deserve the spotlight. Here are five B-side tracks from VIXX that are worth checking out as we get ready for their long-awaited fan meeting!
Love Me Do (2016)
“Love Me Do” is a B-side dance track from VIXX’s sixth single album ‘Hades’. The song sings the members’ affection towards their lover and their desire to be with her, where they ask her to get closer to them and fall in love with them even more. This track exudes an alluring atmosphere, bringing out the sexy charm of the group, and the string instrument at the pre-chorus gives the song a classy and elegant touch. VIXX even performed the song on a water stage at Star Show 360. The members creating water splashes while dancing is stunning to watch, and this stage remains one of the most legendary performances by VIXX.
Badbye (2016)
“Badbye” is a mid-tempo track from VIXX’s fifth single album ‘Zelos’. This song portrays the sorrowful story of a couple as their relationship gradually fades, and finally decides to break up. The lyrics confess the members’ true feelings toward their lover, apologizing to her that they do not have any feelings for her anymore even when they hold hands together, and that they have made up their minds to part ways with her. The heart-breaking lyrics together with the emotional yet beautiful melody create a melancholic vibe and remind many of their relationships in the past.
Spider (2015)
“Spider” is an upbeat EDM song included in VIXX’s second full-length album ‘Chained Up’. The track is about the members being caught up in the mesmerizing charm of their crush, whom they compare to a spider. They describe the feeling of falling in love as the poison of the spider spreading through their body, and that they cannot escape from her and are willing to give everything to her. The punchy beat throughout the song illustrates the intense feeling of being tangled in the spider web, eliciting a dark and mysterious atmosphere. The choreography also matches the theme of the song as it incorporates movements of spiders crawling on arms.
Time Machine (2014)
While VIXX’s discography is mostly on the darker side, they also have a few bright concept songs, and one of them is “Time Machine”. As a B-side dance pop from their second mini album ‘Error’, the lyrics talk about a story of the members discovering an old radio in the attic, which brings back the good old memories of when they were small. The members then express their wish to get on the time machine and travel back to their childhood. This easy-listening song radiates a lighthearted vibe different from the rest of the tracks in the album and brings nostalgic feelings and comfort to every adult.
Love Letter (2013)
Many K-pop groups release fan songs to express their gratitude to their fans, and VIXX is not an exception. The group has released several of them, including “Love Letter”, which is from their first mini album ‘hyde’. This ballad track is a genuine confession from VIXX to their fandom ST☆RLIGHT, in which the members thank ST☆RLIGHT for accompanying them, and promise to love and protect their fans forever by always staying one step behind them. The touching lyrics and sweet melody make this song a perfect representation of the unbreakable love and ties between VIXX and ST☆RLIGHT, and the members often sing this song together with their fans during concerts.
