Shotaro of RIIZE, formerly NCT, is considered to be the king of 4th Gen K-pop’s best dancers. Combining his experience as a professional dancer and a K-pop fan, Shotaro’s moves are truly a work of pure talent. See for yourself in these five iconic moments!
1. NCT U – “Make A Wish” (MCountdown)
We’re starting off strong with the Shotaro fancam! It was not only his debut live performance, but it’s also the most viewed fancam of this stage with 7.7 million views on YouTube. From the very beginning of his career, it was clear that all eyes were on him.
2. GOT7 – “Hard Carry” Cover (KBS Gayo Daechukjae)
At KBS’s year-end music festival, Shotaro was chosen to perform a cover of GOT7’s “Hard Carry”. As a rookie, getting to be a part of these special stages is a pretty big feat and the stage shined a light on another aspect of Shotaro’s talents. Currently, the fancam currently has 1.9 million views; meanwhile, the performance video has over 3.9 million.
3. Aminé – REDMERCEDES Cover (VOGUE KOREA 8PM Concert)
Iconic yet underrated, this dance and interview for Vogue Korea is my personal favorite Shotaro moment. Co-created by Shotaro himself, this cover shows off his skills as a choreographer. During the interview, he mentions that he chose to dance in front of an airplane to describe how he flew to South Korea from Japan to fulfill his dreams. Currently, the video has 736,000 views.
4. Dance by SHOTARO – “Wake Up” (NCT YouTube Channel)
Another Shotaro creation, “Wake Up” is a short but stunning piece of work. From the industrial aesthetics to the hypnotic music track, this dance video is a labor of love and dedication that is a perfect example of Shotaro’s artistry. Currently, this video has 2.2 million views.
5. NCT U – “coNEXTion” (STATION : NCT LAB)
To wrap up this list, this video is the most iconic of them all. As a part of SM Station’s NCT LAB, NCT U released the single “coNEXTion” and an accompanying music video featuring Shotaro in his dance element. The choreography also spotlights the backup dancers, which is rare to see in a K-pop music video, but it also adds a pleasing visual element to the video. Currently, this music video has over 4.7 million views.
