Stray Kids’ Seungmin has grown significantly and has become a favorite vocalist to many fans as Stray Kids’ has continued to gain worldwide popularity. With Stray Kids’ latest release of ‘5-Star’ back on June 2nd, Seungmin proved that he has been pushing himself vocally. His vocals are so comforting and soothing, feeling like a warm hug. He seems to effortlessly fit the style of any song they release no matter what sound the group chooses.
Though we would love to list every Stray Kids song that Seungmin has won our hearts and ears over, we’ve decided to focus on a few of Seungmin’s solo/cover tracks. We felt these tracks showcased his talents the best. The perfect way to describe each track listed is to give off the feeling of relaxing in the sky on a soft cloud while the sun sets. Many of his tracks are very BF-coded and we are sure many STAYS definitely agree.
“STARS AND RAINDROPS”
For Stray Kids’ ‘SKZ – Replay’ album, each member released one or more solo tracks. Seungmin’s track, titled “Stars and Raindrops,” immediately became a fan favorite. With its soft, pop, piano, and dreamy beat accompanied by Seungmin’s soft vocals, the song makes us want to run in a beautiful field of flowers, watch the stars in the night sky, or dance in the rain. His vocals seem to flow like water from a steady river stream, calm and relaxing.
“HOLD ON”
Be weary, this track will make you cry if you are a dog lover who has lost a dog. Written and composed by fellow SKZ member, Han Jisung, “Hold On” is Seungmin’s latest release. Han has expressed that he knew Seungmin would capture the essence of this song so perfectly and we can’t help but agree. The track was written as an homage and farewell to the joy and love dogs bring us when times are hard. The track is acoustic and has a warm tone all throughout. Who better to sing such a beautiful song than “puppy” Seungmin?
“GHOST”
What can we say other than Seungmin has absolutely blown us away with his cover of “Ghost” (some STAYS even think it’s better than the original)? He made this track his own as he took on Justin Bieber’s famous song. Seungmin’s backing and overlapping vocals during the chorus really are something so very special, as they give the song an array of range and tones. Seungmin had STAYS feeling some type of way with this smooth and soft version of “Ghost”.
“LOVE AGAIN”
This cover of EXO member, Baekhyun’s song gives off the perfect rainy day in bed or cozy café vibes. The original is already so good, but this version has a bit more of a toned-down, jazz vibe due to Seungmin’s soothing vocals. Meanwhile, the original has that same jazz feel, but with a more upbeat tone. This cover has a perfect style that really embodies Seungmin’s soft, raw, and warm vocals. We can only hope that he can do more of this jazzy and cozy style of song in a future solo or with SKZ.
“HERE ALWAYS”
Lastly, we have “Here Always” from the famous K-Drama, “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”. This track is so beautiful and dreamy; Seungmin perfectly encompassed the love, heartache, and passion felt all throughout this popular K-Drama. His voice is so delicate in this track compared to others, giving our ears a lulling treat.
Seungmin’s vocals can be impactful in many ways and always make us feel safe, from his powerful and strong vocals in many SKZ songs to his soft, angelic, and warm vocals in his solo projects. His vocals are the type you want to listen to when relaxing, de-stressing, or falling into a heavenly sleep using his songs as a lullaby. As SKZ and Seungmin continue to release music, we hope that we can hear more of those gentle vocals from him in future albums and singles.
We all here at POP TOKKI also want to wish Seungmin a Happy Birthday!
