82MAJOR flew “First Class” onto the K-pop scene in Oct. 2023, and a year later, they’re back with their second single release, ‘X-82.’ Including the title track, “Stuck,” the single album features four Hip-Hop and R&B-inspired tracks, showcasing the groups’ vocals and rapping abilities. POP TOKKI got the opportunity to catch up with 82MAJOR to chat about their newest addition to their discography, future goals and more. Read our interview with the group below!
POP TOKKI: The title track, “Stuck,” exudes confidence from beginning to end. What are the members most confident about?
SEONG BIN: We’re very confident in our title track, “Stuck.” All members rapped in this song, and we worked hard to deliver a powerful performance.
SEOK JOON: Besides the track, we’re confident in our chemistry as a group. All five of us are the same age, and even our youngest, DO GYUN, isn’t much younger, so we’re like close friends. We joke around and talk a lot, and our bond keeps growing stronger.
YE CHAN: I’m confident in the songs I’ve worked on. I’ve been creating music since before our debut and continue to work on it regularly. I contributed significantly to the album track “Face Time,” with the members’ lyrics added, it feels even more complete. I’m proud of the result and look forward to confidently sharing more music with fans in the future.
POP TOKKI: Your music video for “Stuck” reached a remarkable five million views in 24 hours and ten million views in four days! How does it feel to achieve such high numbers and unwavering support?
SEONG IL: It’s unbelievable. I remember being so surprised when I heard we reached 10 million views. I’m incredibly thankful and honored for this amazing achievement.
SEONG BIN: I want to thank everyone who watched our music video. The support from so many people motivates us to work even harder. Your encouragement is the driving force behind our efforts. Thank you so much!
POP TOKKI: Which track from ‘X-82’ would you guys say is your favorite and why?
NAM SEONG MO: My favorite is “Thorn.” I love its intense sound and beat, and practicing this song was genuinely enjoyable for me.
DO GYUN: For me, it’s “Face Time.” The hip vibe of the track stands out. YE CHAN and SEONG BIN first performed “Face Time” at the BEAT X 82 concert in August, but all six of us worked on it together for this album. Performing the song as a group gave it a fresh, unique feel, and I couldn’t help but get into the groove when singing it. It’s captivating.
SEONG IL: My favorite is “Stuck.” It highlights the rap skills of all six members, and the confident lyrics and addictive chorus make it a standout song.
POP TOKKI: How would you describe 82MAJOR’s signature sound?
YE CHAN: I’d say our signature sound can be described with the number “82!” Most of our tracks include “82” in the lyrics because it embodies the essence of 82MAJOR. It’s concise yet powerful in representing who we are.
POP TOKKI: Are there any concepts or looks that you would love to try in the future?
SEONG BIN: I’ve thought about revisiting the refreshing vibe we showed during our debut with “Sure Thing.” I think a more mature take on our youthful charm could offer something new.
SEONG MO: Honestly, I want to try everything. There are so many concepts we haven’t explored yet, and I’m eager to take on anything new. I want to show the diverse charms of 82MAJOR.
POP TOKKI: You recently celebrated your first debut anniversary; what would you say has changed the most about the group? How have you grown?
DO GYUN: My mindset towards performing on stage has changed. During our debut with “First Class,” I was filled with nerves and approached every performance as if preparing for battle. Now, beyond that mindset, I also think about sharing the stage with our fans, the 82DEs. I hope our performances bring them happiness. Recently, I told our fans, “We’ll prepare thoroughly to boost your spirits,” and that thought of doing better for them has grown even stronger.
POP TOKKI: As we approach the end of the year, what does 2025 hold for 82MAJOR? What can fans look forward to?
SEONG IL: While we don’t have specific plans yet, I think we’ll greet fans with a new album and various performances. In 2024, we had two concerts and two album releases, for which we’re incredibly grateful. Next year, we hope to meet fans more frequently and in more countries. We’re working on songs and practicing hard, so please look forward to it!
YE CHAN: To all our 82DEs, thank you for loving 82MAJOR and our music this year. We’ll be even better next year, so let’s continue this journey in 2025 together!
