The 24-member mega-group tripleS released “###” (pronounced “Hash”) on July 20, ahead of their Japanese debut later this year. “###’ marks the group’s first Japanese language song, featuring all 24 members as they tease their entrance into a new music market. They are K-Pop’s first decentralized girl group, allowing fans to participate in deciding the group’s activities via the Cosmo app. The application enables fans to collect digital photo cards, which then translate into voting tokens to determine sub-unit formations, title track outcomes, and variety content.
Digital single ‘###’ reflects on how the group connects with their fans through social media. With lyrics like “tripleS is coming/ It’s starting now,” and “Hash to you/ the algorithm connects you and you,” the group makes a confident announcement about their upcoming Japanese debut while commenting on social media’s ability to transcend physical borders and bring the globe together. The track is adorned with tripleS’ signature chorus of “la-la-la’s,” with its energetic and quirky instrumentation reminiscent of the soundtrack to your favorite childhood video game. Frantic horns and an upbeat piano melody make “###” the perfect song to brighten your day!
tripleS’ Japan dimension is set to consist of 8 out of the 24 members. Two members, Mayu and ShiOn, were decided to participate in the subunit by the group’s Korean agency, Modhaus. The remaining 6 members will be decided through 3 rounds of voting by fans. The first round will take place on the Japanese streaming site Lemino, where fans will have from July 20th to August 20th to decide on 2 members who will participate in the Japan dimension. The final 4 members will be decided through the Cosmo app through 2 rounds of voting. The final lineup of tripleS’ Japan dimension will be announced on August 28th. The sub-unit will promote in Japan for the duration of 1 year.
