One of K-Pop’s most adored boy group EXO made their much-anticipated comeback with their new album ‘Exist’. Their seventh studio album dropped this past Monday, July 10th. This marks the group’s first album as eight members following military service.
Preceding their new album, the group released two pre-release tracks. “Let Me In” is a soft R&B ballad, showcasing EXO’s trademark vocal range. Meanwhile, “Hear Me Out” is more upbeat and old-school, reminiscent of sub-unit EXO-SC’s sound.
The official title track of the album, “Cream Soda,” follows the same energy as “Hear Me Out.” This dance-pop track highlights the group’s more mature and sexy side, comparing the feeling of falling in love to cream soda. In the chorus, the members sing: “Uncontrollable appetite / A taste that shook my everything / I need all ya cream soda / The more it melts, the sweeter it gets / Take my heart out / I need all ya cream soda.”
Other B-sides on the album include EXO’s signature genres: R&B and dance. “Regret It” is an energetic R&B track co-written by member Chanyeol, under the name Loey, and produced by frequent collaborator Dem Jointz. Other groovy R&B and dance tracks on the album include “Private Party,” “No Makeup,” and “Love Fool.”
Additionally, this album includes some more synth-pop elements with the track “Cinderella,” as well as alternative pop with “Another Day.” Many fans, both EXO-L’s and general K-pop fans, say this album truly encapsulates EXO’s sound and image.
