After one and a half long, agonizing years without new DreamNote music, they have finally returned to us with their fifth single album, ‘Secondary Page.’ Fans were pleasantly surprised after DreamNote’s official social media pages released a new logo teaser on March 21. Fans’ anticipation was evident as they speculated the meaning behind this new logo. Their hopes and wishes for a new comeback were more intense than ever; fortunately, their wishes came true after another social media post announcing the album’s title and release date.
If you haven’t heard about DreamNote, they are a 6 member girl group from iMe Korea. The members, YOUI, BoNi, Lara, MISO, Sumin, and Eunjo, debuted in 2018 with “DreamLike” and their single album with the same name. Since their debut, DreamNote has had three main comebacks: “Hakuna Matata”, “WISH”, and “Ghost”.
The shift in tone and style between DreamNote’s last title track “Ghost” and their latest “Lemonade” displays DreamNote’s versatility. “Lemonade” features peppy and sweet instrumentals and lyricism while “Ghost” emphasizes the darker side of infatuation in the robust production of the track. “Ghost” is DreamNote’s most popular song, amassing over 2 million streams on Spotify. Will this comeback truly show DreamNote’s range?
DreamNote’s “Lemonade” is the perfect song for the transition from spring to summer. The sugary-sweet instrumental paired with lyrics about living life to the fullest as you breathe in the summer air. DreamNote’s “Lemonade” is as refreshing as a glass of lemonade!
“Lemonade” is accompanied by two other tracks on ‘Secondary Page’. The pre-release single “Blue,” is one of DreamNote’s simpler and more somber tracks, lyrically, but it keeps up DreamNote’s signature instrumental style. “Broken” is one of our favorite DreamNote B-Sides. The retro and city-pop influences are paired beautifully with DreamNote’s incredibly smooth vocals to create a great track and the perfect conclusion to the Mini-Album.
DreamNote is still an underrated K-pop group, despite debuting almost five years ago. The future of DreamNote looks bright, so let’s continue to support them and “Lemonade” to continue to see their growth.
