82MAJOR began their journey on October 11 with two title tracks – “FIRST CLASS” and “Sure Thing.”Both tracks bear a distinct sound from each other, already establishing their range and versatility as artists. As the rookie group develops as artists, they want to establish themselves as a global phenomenon, sharing their self-written music with the world. We at POP TOKKI got to sit with the rookie group and delve into the minds of future global phenomena, 82MAJOR.
“Some of you have contributed to this album’s songwriting process. Can you offer some insights into the songwriting process and the messages you wanted to convey through the lyrics?”
“When I first heard the melody of “SURE THING,” it brought a positive, hopeful feeling. It inspired me to write lyrics as if directly communicating with our fans. Crafting these lyrics, a lot of beautiful words came to mind. In a section mentioning “a small firefly,” I remembered being a child and witnessing a firefly, amazed at how something so small could emit such a bright light. I aimed to be a similar source of light, even if small, for our fans. That’s how the lyrics came together.”

“While creating “FIRST CLASS,” my focus was on the aspiration for 82MAJOR to reach a first-class status in the future. I aimed to express this ambition through the song’s lyrics.”

“While I was working on First Class, with Seong Mo and Seong Bin, I just felt like it was very natural for us. We’re confident in our skills, so when it came down to writing and being like “Oh, we’re first-class – this is who we are and we’re good at what we do;” I felt like it was very very easy for us to write lyrics that match the song.”

“If you could choose a song that represents their personality, which would it be and why?”
“For me, “SURE THING” because it resonates with my bright and optimistic image, more so than a strong or intense vibe. So I think the vibe from the track, “SURE THING” resembles myself more.”

“It is “FIRST CLASS” for me because I’m an easy-going and passionate person.”
– Seong Mo
“For me, it has to be “FIRST CLASS”. I don’t know if you’ve seen our reality show but I am also a bubbly person and very outgoing and loud. At the same time when it comes down to work, when it comes down to what I do, I’m very serious about it. I am a workaholic per se. I feel like my personality matches more with first class than it does with “sure thing” because, at the end of the day, I’m a very serious person and a perfectionist.

“I find that both songs reflect different facets of my personality. When I’m cheerful and smiling, “SURE THING” captures that upbeat and cute energy. On the other hand, when I’m in a more laid-back or cool state, “FIRST CLASS” embodies that heavy, charismatic vibe.”
