In the city of Angels, IU graced the stage at a sold-out show at the infamous Kia Forum on Aug. 2nd on her first-ever world tour. It’s a show packed with a set of 26 full songs and 3 encore snippets. As Ueana’s filled the arena dressed in the theme of her iconic album ‘LILAC’ and more; they handed out freebies and banners to hold up during her photo op that read:
“You’re our Celebrity. In the city of stars, you’re our Celebrity.”,
As she rose from the stage embellished in a bedazzled red dress and iconic glittering headphones, her first set was focused on a catchy variety of fun tracks like “Holssi” and “Ah puh”. Keeping up the fun and energetic vibe, her second set was filled with illuminating fan favorites like “Celebrity” and “I stan U”.
As she performed and spoke during her sets, you could feel the love and gratitude emanating from her no matter how close or far your seat was. She continuously expressed her love for her fans and even gave special items to a few lucky ueana’s in the crowd.
The large LED screen behind her showcased a view of the crowd cheering for her as a backdrop during many of her songs. A recurring theme throughout her whole show was appreciation; IU for her uaena’s and uaena’s for IU. During set changes, inspiring quotes were written out on the screen:
“I am on my way to protect your heart, from all the prejudice of the world”.
As well as, lyrics displayed on the screen for all songs. Allowing fans to sing along in Korean and English, making everyone feel included. She then enriched the stage in various dreamy and flowy dresses for the rest of her sets matching the LED backdrop for tracks like “Strawberry Moon” and “Love Wins All”. Enchanting the crowd with “A Midsummer Night Dream” fairytale-like visuals, she shined like a fairy princess.
As the show was nearing its end she took requests for songs to sing during her encore. Despite her preset encore, she made Ueanas happy as she sang just a second or 2 of their favorite tracks. Overall, an amazing night as fans left with a memorable lasting impression of their favorite star and a special keepsake given to every fan in the area, specially made by her mother.
