The cold temperature and hefty wind stood no match against Chicago DIVEs as they eagerly waited to see their favorite girls, IVE, at All State Arena for their 1st world tour—Show What I Have. As the well-dressed fans poured into the venue, the anticipation increased with every passing moment as the playlist of IVE songs grew louder, the lights fell darker, and DIVE’s energy burst through the roof.
ACT ONE
As the giant screens parted, six silhouettes emerged from the fog: Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo. The sextet sashayed their way down the catwalk and began their energetic performance of their hit track “I AM.” The group presented a special rock version of “ROYAL” that Rei mentioned they worked hard on just for this tour. “Blue Blood” followed suit before the girls took a break to introduce themselves and express their gratitude to their fans for showing up before hopping into a mellow performance of “Heroine.”Without a doubt, ‘Cherish’ was a return to upbeat performances, in stark contrast to ‘Heroine.’ The stage screens transformed into a social media wonderland as they swiped through “Investagram” and even used selfie sticks to project themselves onto the screens. Closing out Act One, their debut track “ELEVEN” had the crowd passionately following the choreography and lyrics, just as they did when the group first debuted.
ACT TWO
After a captivating sensory adventure provided by the “Colors of IVE” VCR, The group dazzled the stage with stunning shimmery dresses and skirts as they performed “Shine with Me” and Either Way.” The group split to change their clothes—as Yunjin, Rei, and Leeseo left the stage to change their clothes, Wonyoung, Gaeul, and Liz took the time to talk to DIVEs. Each member displayed their unique hairstyle. Liz flaunted her purple hair and promised to show it off in Chicago. Wonyoung impressed everyone with her “drop ear” hair that resembled bunny ears. Gaeul’s dumpling-shaped hair captured the hearts of the crowd.
Yunjin, Rei, and Leeseo return to the stage, so Wonyoung, Liz, and Gaeul can change their clothes next. This group discusses their shared love for bowling and conducts a live poll on the topic of hot dogs versus Korean corn dogs. Of course, Korean corn dogs won. As the girls continue to debate hot dogs vs corn dogs, the missing trio returns to the stage to perform “Lips,” “Mine,” and “Off The Record.”
ACT THREE
Act three kicks off with Yujin and Leeseo showing off their cool dance moves to Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red.” The duo explains that the previous show voted for their cool concept, and now Chicago will vote for the next shows concept (spolier alert: the cool concept won).
This leads into the unit performances, beginning with Gaeul’s dynamic cover of Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” and Rei’s rendition of NIKI’s “Every Summertime”. The two girls then joined forces to perform “Wannabe” by Spice Girls. Next is Liz and Wonyoung who serenaded the crowd with their cover of Richard Sanderson’s “Reality.” Finally, Yujin and Leeseo return to the stage with a their explosive cover of “Woman Like Me” by Little Mix.
ACT FOUR
IVE showed their acting skills in the Hypnosis VCR, showing the girls in a darker light. The group’s next stage had a spooky theme with foggy floors and creepy decorations like rocking chairs, featuring a video full of supernatural elements and eerie moments to introduce “Hypnosis.” After an impressively eerie performance of “Hypnosis,” the group proceeded to perform “My Satisfaction” before pausing to reflect on the show’s production with the audience.
This part of the show is where the group pulls out their biggest hits and crowd favorites, “LOVE DIVE,” “Kitsch,” “Baddie” and “After Like.” The groups saved their best songs for the end of the show and left the stage on a high note, waving and expressing gratitude to their fans for the energy they brought to the concert. They also looked forward to returning to Chicago for “IVEPALOOZA,” their first Lollapalooza performance in August.
ENCORE
Of course, no K-pop concert is complete without an Encore. The girls returned to the stage wearing various styles of their tour merch, cute headwear, and beautiful skirts. The group had two songs left. The first one was “OTT,” which was particularly exciting because Wonyoung shared that she had personally contributed to writing the track. The second track was a never-ending version of “All Night,” making us wish the concert would last all night!
IVE poured their heart and soul into 2 hours, and provided Chicago DIVEs with an unforgettable experience. Promising to return for IVEPALOOZA, we can’t wait to see the magic they’ll produce on stage for the festival.
