On April 3, 2024, girl group KISS OF LIFE unveiled their premiere single ‘Midas Touch’, comprising two distinct tracks. Leading the release is the featured song “Midas Touch”, succeeded by “Nothing”.
“Midas Touch”
“Midas Touch” is about a captivating love where KISS OF LIFE can ensnare their love interest with a single touch, referencing the Greek myth of King Midas. In this myth, a greedy king is granted his wish that everything he touches will turn to gold, ending in him turning his beloved daughter into gold. The myth’s lesson teaches people not to be greedy. The lyrics of the song “Midas Touch” refer to this by giving the subject of its lyrics a warning of each member’s enticing touch that they say can be dangerous, but can also be something so good that they can’t escape it. They also reference each KISS OF LIFE member’s solo songs from their 2023 debut EP ‘KISS OF LIFE’. The instrumentals of “Midas Touch” are heavy with synthesizer, giving it a sound emulating late 1990s and early 2000s pop music, which were distinguishable by its use of synthesizer. The music video for this track premiered on April 3, weaving references to various Greek myths, notably the tale of King Midas.
“Nothing”
The next track on ‘Midas Touch’ is “Nothing”, a mesmerizing mid-tempo English R&B piece. The track showcases each member’s distinct vocal style layered over delicate piano melodies and subtle string arrangements. “Nothing” explores the poignant emotion of investing time into a love that ultimately led to heartbreak and pain.
