Kiss Of Life has officially made their mark in the K-pop industry, debuting on July 5, 2023. Under S2 Entertainment, members Julie Han, Natty, Belle, and Haneul released “KISS OF LIFE – EP”. With 6 tracks total, the members share their talent with the world in an amazing debut album.
KISS OF LIFE – EP
The EP is unique in many ways, only having two full group tracks followed by 4 solo songs where each member has the chance to show off their skills and musical preferences. With ‘Shhh’ being the title track, the second full group track ‘Bye My Neverland’ serves us that 2010 pop-punk feel many have missed. With lyrics like “I’ll never come back, leave the hometown, different somehow”, the message calls to leave a place where you no longer want to be and move on to bigger and brighter things.
Solo Tracks
Moving along to the solo tracks we have ‘Sugarcoat’ by all-rounder Natty. Natty has been in the scene for quite some time, starting off on survival shows Sixteen and Idol School. She then debuted as a soloist with the single ‘Nineteen’. After that, she joined Kiss Of Life where she continues to showcase her talents. With the song ‘Sugarcoat’ she heavily dives into that soft R&B sound, providing the audience with smooth and heavenly vocals.
The second solo song comes from the main vocalist Belle. Belle isn’t new to the music scene, having provided vocals for Mark Lee’s solo track ‘Child’. She has also produced songs for (G)-IDLE’s Miyeon and Purple Kiss. Her solo track ‘Countdown’ provides us with a modern pop sound, with guitars, and drums heavily leading the song. Within this song she shows us her talent with high belts and gorgeous adlibs, making a song that could be served as a pop anthem to audiences around the world.
Julie provided us with the third solo track titled ‘Kitty Cat’. Julie resided in Hawaii, USA up until she moved to South Korea at age fourteen. Having trained for over 3 years, Julie serves as Kiss Of Life’s leader and rapper. Similar to Natty’s ‘Sugarcoat’, Julie’s song takes us on a journey with that R&B feel. With this song she shows us her rap skills, giving us well-delivered verses along with a catchy chorus.
The final solo track ‘Play Love Games’ comes from maknae Haneul. Some of the things she likes include Sanrio, Sports, and Studio Ghibli Movies. Her song ‘Play Love Games’ has a playful almost nursery rhyme feel to it. With adlib chants behind her sweet vocals, the song is super cheerful and cute. Each solo track dished out different takes on the pop and R&B sounds, showing us their versatile talent!
’Shhh’
‘Shhh’ is the title track of the debut EP. The track hits heavy from the beginning, giving the same R&B feel as Natty and Julie’s solo tracks. It seems as though a storyline may develop due to the events that take place in the music video. Although it is unclear now what this storyline may lead up to, it for sure shows the bond that the girls have with each other. The colors of the music video contrast with the outfits that they wear. While the scenery is dull, their outfits are in bright shiny colors. In between the video, there’s a slight pause where more of the storyline takes place. It shows Natty getting ready for and entering the stage before the song breaks out once more while the credits roll. The song showcases their strong vocals and unique choreography. Overall, the song and EP is one that can’t be missed out on tuning in for.
