Hueningkai of Tomorrow X Together is someone who fully embodies his character during performances. His duality and ability to shift in different atmospheres makes him a very versatile and entertaining performer. With every performance, he puts his everything into his dance and unleashes auras that we love to watch. Today, we are here to highlight some of the moments where Hueningkai has not only danced the part, but acted the part.
Frost (Special Performance):
“Frost” is an angsty rock track from TXT’s 5th album titled ‘The Chaos Chapter: Freeze,’ released in 2021. During this era, TXT continued to experiment with various sounds and delved into their “edgy” alternative sound. While there were many notable performances from this album, Hueningkai came to deliver during a special performance of “Frost”. He opens the song as he maniacally stumbles across the stage, head in hands, singing “I’m so shocked.” The iconic opening line is followed by a deranged laugh and smirk. Fans continue to praise him on this performance as he does an amazing job portraying himself very bizarrely. Throughout the performance, he makes it his own as he embodies a dark persona, much different from what we usually see, making it a unique experience for anyone who is watching.
Mix & Max:
Maknae of TXT Hueningkai and Hyung Yeonjun paired together to give us a show-stopping performance with Studio Choom this summer. This stage portrays the story of two pure boys who eventually turn dark. However, the darkness is portrayed in a badass manner. The choreography starts off simple, both shown wearing white and portraying a benevolent character. Although the choreography begins light, what happens when they finally fall into the darkness? Well, they are quick to show you. Like yin and yang, Hueningkai’s duality is showcased as he brings out the menacing character hiding within. Throughout the entire dance, he continues to show the camera what it means to be a fierce dancer and actor.
Good Boy Gone Bad:
If there is anything we can learn from Hueningkai in “Good Boy Gone Bad,” it’s that his gaze is piercing. If looks could kill, we would all be out for the count. Every moment that he makes eye contact with the camera is intimidating in the best way possible as he unlocks his inner bad boy. As he makes a failed attempt to reach a lover from his past in the music video, we can quickly see his change in demeanor and the rage that takes over him. TXT’s good boy Hueningkai, had in fact, gone bad.
Devil by the Window:
“Devil by the Window” is a song about being faced with temptations by the devil and not being able to escape them. Hueningkai opens the first track on ‘The Name Chapter: Temptation,’ and stuns the crowd with his solid body isolations and mischievous facials. Although temptation is a leading topic on this album, “Devil by the Window” also speaks about being caught in between good & evil. Hueningkai’s body and acting tells that story perfectly. It’s almost as if he is trying to get away from himself. His hypnotic persona begins to make you think that maybe he is the one tempting you as you cannot look away from him. His stage presence is out of this world and you cannot miss his devilish smile throughout this stage.
Eternally:
Similarly, to “Frost” and the Mix & Max performance, the stage for “Eternally” alternates between light and dark. The final song from their album ‘The Dream Chapter: Eternity,’ taps into the dark sides of friendships and youth. When the song begins, Hueningkai remains light on his feet, moving swiftly as he embodies the beauty of the song. However, as the beat switches to something much more ominous, he channels his more eccentric side. “Eternally” is the perfect example of beauty in chaos. His performance is enchanting and puts viewers into a trance as the consistent switches between soft and dark come into play.
Overall, Hueningkai knows how to put on a show, and his passion for art is never dismissed. Each performance becomes better with every comeback and we are excited to see what other personas he shows us on stage!
