Today, CJ ENM released nominations for its 2024 MAMA AWARDS, which will kick off in the United States for the first time in its history before taking place in Japan in November. The eligibility period for all releases runs from October 1st, 2023, through September 30th, 2024. All albums, songs, and artists are reviewed based on a holistic evaluation of global music data and a panel of specialists.
Celebrating a 25-year legacy, the MAMA AWARDS have been crucial to the rise of K-pop, hosting ceremonies throughout Asia, including Macao, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Japan. This year, the MAMA AWARDS, presented by Visa, will kick off at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on November 21st (PST) and will take place at the KYOCERA DOME OSAKA in Japan over two days, November 22nd and 23rd (KST/JST). The 2024 MAMA AWARDS will also be broadcast globally across various digital platforms.
The MAMA AWARDS are presenting a new category this year in an effort to continue elevating standards for K-pop awards. The category “Best Choreography,” was introduced to keep with the theme of honoring K-pop and the work put into creating the music globally.
Nominations for categories fans are most familiar with, like “Visa FANS’ CHOICE OF THE YEAR” and “FANS’ CHOICE,” will hold the first round of nomination votes from October 14th to 25th (KST), after which the second round will continue from November 1st (KST). These categories honor artists as most influential based on fan opinion. Fans can vote on social platforms like Mnet Plus and X.
