Following their charismatic debut with their first album, ‘NOMAD,’ earlier this year, the group has finally returned after a short break. On October 9, 2024, the music video for “Call Me Back” was released alongside the B-side track “Compare.” The single album ‘Call Me Back’ will make a great addition to our late-night R&B playlists! NOMAD consists of DOY, RIVR, SANGHA, JUNHO, and ONE.
“Call Me Back” is a story of heartbreak and reflection. The music video features the members of NOMAD painfully looking back at memories of their past relationships. Though they are seen trying to distance themselves from these memories, the song’s lyrics express that the process is never-ending and consuming. The music video ends with the members collectively putting a phone to their ears to express that they still wish to reconnect with their lost lovers.
Leader and producer DOY stated that he based the lyrics on his experiences. Lyrics such as “Every single day I met you felt like a dream/ Excuses don’t make sense/ If this dream had a color, at least it would be bright,” demonstrate the group’s commitment to being vulnerable and breaking idol group stereotypes! “Call Me Back” mixes R&B and Hip Hop as per NOMAD’s signature genres, with the members’ powerful vocal performances packing a melancholy punch. “Compare” marks Cha Cha Malone’s return as primary producer, following tracks “Eye 2 Eye” and “Automatic” from NOMAD’s self-titled album. Cha Cha Malone is known for his work with Korean hip-hop artists like Jay Park and Loco. With its catchy R&B-trap sensibilities, “Compare” will surely get stuck in your head when you least expect it!
