On October 27, SM Entertainment’s newest sensation, RIIZE, released their second single, “Talk Saxy.” Featuring a catchy saxophone riff, this funky dance track focuses on having a confident and honest narrative when seeing someone attractive.
As mentioned above, the song features a retro-inspired instrumental. Coupled with a hip-hop flow and saxophone-heavy beat, this single shows off a mature side to the group. In the music video, we are treated to visuals reminiscent of the early 2000s. From the background light-up sign to close-up visual shots, as well as the box set with speakers and all-white outfits.
RIIZE — consisting of members Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Wonbin, Seunghan, Sohee, and Anton — debuted in September of this year with their single, “Get A Guitar.” The super rookies took the K-pop world by storm, becoming million-copy sellers within one week of debuting. They also broke the record for the fastest K-pop boy group to reach 1 million followers on Instagram in four days. The group made their live debut just weeks before their first single, performing at KCON LA this past August.
The group name RIIZE comes from combining the words “rise,” to represent growth, and “realize,” to represent achievements. Together, the words encapsulate the idea that the team will grow as they achieve their dreams. With each member’s individual personality and talents, RIIZE has already made quite a name for themselves with their pre-release performance video quickly amassing 1 million views within the first twenty-four hours.
As they continue their career, the group aims to focus on authenticity and relatability. By forging a deep connection with their fans, BRIIZE (pronounced like “breeze”), RIIZE hopes to achieve further success with their fans.
