Seulgi is back with her long-awaited 2nd mini album ‘Accidently On Purpose’, released on Mar. 10. This 2nd mini album features 5 tracks: Better Dayz, Rollin’ (With My Homies), Whatever, Praying and Weakness, including her title track “Baby, Not Baby”. This album is a bit different from her first mini album ’28 Reasons’, which featured darker and club dance vibes.
However, this album still captures her essence as a woman in a soulful way, just like her first mini album. ‘Accidently On Purpose’ inspires us with 90s and Y2K R&B tones intertwined with Hip Hop, with just an overall laid-back mood. Although, two other tracks give off pop-rock vibes, still showcasing some 90s and Y2K vibes of early pop like Britney Spears. ‘Accidentally On Purpose’ can be seen as a continuation of ’28 Reasons, ‘ where Seulgi showcases various sides of who she is as a performer. She can effortlessly pull off any style and concept.

“BABY, NOT BABY”
She exhibits brief moments of vulnerability in the music video before resuming her tough persona, which can be interpreted as combative and independent. The lyrics and music video for “Baby, Not Baby” appear to capture both facets of Seulgi’s character along with that of any woman: soft yet bold and sassy. When she says, “I’m your Baby, NOT BABY,” it could suggest that she is her partner’s “baby,” perhaps romantically. However, she is not a baby in the sense that she is overly dependent on her partner or weak.
