On June 14th, the Japanese boy group &TEAM released their latest mini album ‘First Howling : WE.’ The album features the lead single “Firework,” in Japanese and Korean, and four additional tracks. The band debuted on December 7th, 2022, after competing on the survival show &Audition – The Howling.
From ME to WE
Contrary to the emo punk-rock sound in their first album, ‘First Howling : ME,’ this follow-up record explores &TEAM’s softer side.
The album follows the nine boys as they fulfill their wish of finding “like-minded people who crave challenges and growth.” (Source) The music video for “Firework” emphasizes the song’s nostalgic melodies with bright colors, beachside views, and some teenage angst.
Sub-leader Fuma explained in an interview for The Korea Times, “The tune likens the moment of encounter to a burst of fireworks. [Particularly,] I am fond of my part, which reminds me of my bygone days when I experienced frustration but did not give up on pursuing my dream of joining &TEAM.” (Source)
Other tracks include “Road Not Taken,” a brooding trap song featuring a complex choreography; the Korean version of “Scent of you” from their first album; “Blind Love,” the band’s first OST for Japanese drama Dr. Chocolate; and “The Moon Is Beautiful,” an anthem dedicated to their fans, LUNÉ.
