It’s that time of year when the songs of the summer take over our playlists and provide us with soft groovy beats. Hits of the summer replay in our minds 24/7, letting us know that the sun is shining and it’s time to get outside! WEi, a South Korean boy group under OUI Entertainment consisting of members Daehyeon, Donghan, Yongha, Yohan, Seokhwa, and Junseo knew just what to do in the bright month of June, coming back with their 6th mini album “Love Pt. 3 : Eternally”.
Love Pt.3: Eternally
The EP highlights ‘OVERDRIVE’ as the title track followed by 4 B-sides. Its B-side tracks consist of ‘Be Alright (chillin’)’, ‘Thriller’, ‘All Day With You’, and ‘End of The Day.’ Each piece takes us on a different journey in the WEi musical realm. ‘Be Alright (chillin’)’ takes on a Latin dance vibe, trumpets filling the air. ‘Thriller’ dives into a Hip-Pop vibe, a good mix of breathy and powerful vocals take over each verse. ‘All Day With You’ is a beautiful R&B track, with smooth vocals powering through the song. The mini album’s last track ‘End of The Day’ takes us into a deeper pop ballad, providing us with a meaningful and heartfelt listen. Overall, each track provides RUi and other listeners a trip around the world, giving us a look into what great musicians WEi are.
OVERDRIVE
Diving into ‘OVERDRIVE’, The MV does an excellent job incorporating fun and bright colors, following the six-member group through a summer adventure. The opening scene shows the members rolling dice to see where their adventure will be, panning to their world map as it fades into the scenes taking place on the beach and on a jacuzzi. Each scene brings on the epic summer feel that we all love to see. The song’s fun and groovy beat courses throughout the whole song, with lyrics like “Live again in overdrive, ‘Cause I’m beggin’, I’m beggin’ for more.” Spelling out the message of living life without care and spending time with the ones you love all throughout the day. The music video is one that can be on repeat all day, showing each member having fun throughout the whole music video.
